Labor Day Weekend 2020 Retreat

The brothers and sisters of Family Ministries are pleased to host a Labor Day Weekend Family Retreat from September 4 to September 7, 2020 (Friday evening to Monday morning) at Camp Hashawha ( Hashawha Environmental Center ) near Westminster, Maryland.

Our brothers, Ed Miller and Tom Wontrop, will be sharing on, “Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says the LORD of hosts. Malachi 3:1

The expression, “the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple” will be the focus of our meditations. We are certain that there is a fullness in the passage which will be fulfilled in history, but we desire to see the great principles involved in the Lord suddenly appearing in His temple.

There are illustrations of our Lord Jesus as the Son of Man, not only “suddenly” coming to His temple, but “repeatedly” coming to His temple. In every case, the Lord Jesus did a work when He entered the temple. We are His temple! We can anticipate the work He will accomplish in our hearts when He shows up and visits His temple. What He did in fact in the literal temple, is what we can expect in principle, when He appears over and over again in His temple.

We will follow the Bible stories when the Lord literally came to the temple.

He suddenly came to His temple when:
He surprised Simeon and Anna. (Luke 2:21-35)
He was found again in His temple at age twelve. (Luke 2:41-52)
He was constantly in the temple teaching and healing
(John 7:14-36 and other passages)
He was suddenly brought to the pinnacle of the temple during His temptation in the wilderness.
(Matthew 4:1-11)
At the beginning and end of His ministry, He cleansed His temple.
(John 2:13-22; Matthew 21:12-17)

It is exciting to meditate on the radical difference it made when Jesus came into His temple. We know His great heart desires to do the same work in these temples of ours, if we would only seek Him.

Activities during the teaching times will be planned for children who have completed Kindergarten through the sixth grade.  A nursery will also be provided for younger children so that parents can hear the brothers' sharing.

The fee for the weekend is $90 per person, which covers the cost of lodging and seven meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday and breakfast on Monday.  There is no fee for children ages 0-4. For families living at the same address there is a maximum cost to you of $360. This cost applies to everyone eating meals at the camp, regardless of where you are sleeping. A love offering will be received for Ed Miller and Tom Wontrop during the conference.

If you feel the Lord would have you fellowship with the brothers and sisters for this weekend, please do not let finances keep you from attending.  Please register and come without hesitation.
